On Thursday, the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church warned about schismatic and heretical groups that present themselves as Orthodox and conduct religious activities similar to those of the Orthodox Church. The decision was adopted during the meeting chaired by Patriarch Daniel at the Patriarchal Palace in Bucharest.
According to the resolution, these groups abusively use titles, vestments, icons, and services specific to the Orthodox Church, creating confusion among the faithful. In some cases, they solicit donations for the construction of places of worship or for social and religious activities. Diocesan centers will inform the faithful about the importance of maintaining full communion with the canonical Orthodox Church and respecting the rules established by the Holy Fathers.
The Synod also approved the draft Code of Pastoral Communication Responsibility, analyzed the pastoral care of immigrants, and approved the program for 2028, declared the Commemorative Year of the Use of Biblical Texts in Liturgical Life. New liturgical texts were also approved, as well as measures regarding the involvement of teachers in drafting Religion textbooks.
