The spokesperson of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Andrei Țărnea, reacted harshly to the attacks by Dmitry Medvedev, the vice-chairman of the Russian Security Council, who insulted Kaja Kallas, the head of EU diplomacy.

Medvedev used derogatory terms, calling Kallas a "blonde rat" and threatened that Russian soldiers could enter Europe without visas, referring to historical events.

Kărnea's response emphasized that such comments come from "former minor state officials" and that women in Russia and around the world deserve more respect.

"Former minor state officials who call any woman a 'rat' should be ignored, but women and girls in Russia or anywhere else in the world deserve much more. It is revealing that, while they poison women online, the woman they are trying to discredit travels the world and influences politics," Kărnea wrote on X.

This reaction came in the context of Kallas announcing sanctions against individuals involved in human rights abuses in Russia and stating that the EU is working to limit access for former Russian soldiers in the Schengen area.
