A 52-year-old Romanian citizen is being investigated criminally after being caught by border police in Giurgiu transporting counterfeit goods from Turkey, valued at over 285,000 lei. The incident occurred on a bus that was making regular trips on the Turkey-Romania route, checked on the national road DN 5 Giurgiu-Bucharest.

Following the checks, 816 articles of clothing inscribed with names of protected brands, suspected to be counterfeit, were discovered without any proof of origin. The goods were confiscated for further investigation, and a criminal case was opened for the offense of circulating counterfeit products, harming the holders of the registered trademark.
