The specialized national module for forest fire extinguishing in Romania is on a prepositioning mission in the French Republic, intervening in the Var Department to combat vegetation fires.
According to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), Romanian crews have been mobilized in the Correns-Châteauvert area, carrying out a complex intervention alongside French authorities. The operation involves both ground forces and aerial means, with helicopters and firefighting planes operating simultaneously. The main mission is to prevent the spread of the fire from the dry vegetation to the nearby forests, where the expansion of the fire could have serious consequences.
Romanian and French firefighters are collaborating to create protective barriers and protect households in the area. The intervention is taking place under difficult conditions, with dry vegetation and rugged terrain, but the teams are prepared to respond to requests from French authorities as the situation evolves.
