The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs that the Romanian Embassy and Consulate General in Edinburgh are actively involved in clarifying the situation of Romanian citizens affected by the violent incidents in Ballymena. The Romanian Ambassador has spoken with the British authorities and urged Romanians to avoid the conflict areas. The riots, fueled by anti-immigrant sentiment, targeted the Romanian community in particular and local authorities condemned the violence. Romanian citizens can apply for consular assistance in an emergency.
