Romania won 8 medals at the International Artificial Intelligence Olympiad in Kazakhstan, including 3 gold medals

At the International Olympiad of Artificial Intelligence (IOAI) 2026, held between August 2 and 8 in Astana, Kazakhstan, Romania won a total of 8 medals, of which 3 bronze medals were won by students from Cluj. Romania's participation was supported by the Ministry of Education, the Union of Computer Science Teachers in Romania, and the Romanian Hub of Artificial Intelligence.

Romanian students excelled in the competition, obtaining 3 gold medals, 2 silver medals, and 3 bronze medals. The bronze medals were brought home by Nistor Iulian, Bence-Muk Daniel-Antoniu, and Pop Matei-Tudor, all from Cluj-Napoca. Competitors from 108 countries participated in the competition, thus highlighting the high level of performance of Romanian students in the field of artificial intelligence. This achievement underscores the effective collaboration between educational institutions and professional organizations in Romania.
