During her intervention, Minister Oana Ţoiu reaffirmed Romania's commitment to constructively contribute to the negotiations regarding the European budget. She highlighted the necessity for the budget to reflect both the current needs of member states and the emerging priorities of the European Union. The Minister supported the continuation of funding for traditional policies, such as cohesion policy and CAP, emphasizing that these are essential for the development of communities. Oana Ţoiu expressed reservations about the Commission's proposal to combine funds, warning that this could affect access to financing.

She also underscored the importance of security and competitiveness, advocating for an ambitious budget to support dual-use projects, considering the current geopolitical context. Romania has called for ensuring access to resources for all member states, including traditional industries, to enhance the Union's competitiveness and reduce dependence on third countries. This approach is considered vital for achieving the Union's strategic objectives, including in the field of defense.
