The Minister of Defense, Miruță, stated that Romania has identified deficiencies in its air defense capabilities and has sent official requests to NATO for their completion, especially in the Dobrogea area.

He explained that upon taking over the leadership of the ministry, he identified the need to expand interception systems, mentioning that although some capabilities have been activated, they do not cover the entire length of interest. Miruță sent NATO a list of necessary equipment, including low-altitude systems and anti-drone interception technologies, technically validated at the allied level. Romania has made progress in acquisitions through the European SAFE program, with investments of billions of euros in anti-drone defense, signing contracts worth approximately 3.3 billion euros.

The minister emphasized that Romania's requests to NATO are financially justified and that they aim not only at Romanian air defense but also at the security of the entire NATO space.
