The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated, through a communiqué, that Romania was not part of the conflict between the United States and Iran, rejecting the accusations made by Tehran following the statements of NATO Secretary General, Mark Rutte.
The MFA specified that the facilities provided to American forces are based on existing bilateral agreements between Romania and the USA and represent commitments made by an allied state. At the same time, the institution conveyed that all decisions adopted by Romania are in accordance with the provisions of the UN Charter and with the norms of international law.
The reaction comes after Iranian officials claimed that states supporting American operations against Iran could bear political and legal responsibilities.
