In Washington, the Minister of Finance, Alexandru Nazare, together with other Romanian officials, announced the first World Bank funding in the nuclear field in the last 60 years. This was confirmed following a meeting with Ajay Banga, the president of the World Bank Group. Nazare emphasized that Romania is becoming an increasingly relevant regional player, due to the economic stabilization measures and fiscal consolidation implemented in the past year.

The funding will support strategic projects, such as the modernization of the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant, essential for the country's energy security. Additionally, discussions are underway regarding the development of the Vertical Corridor for gas transport and other energy initiatives. Nazare highlighted the importance of the partnership with the World Bank, stressing that Romania must continue economic reforms and investments to ensure sustainable economic growth. Romania also aims to become a regional platform for the reconstruction of Ukraine, leveraging the experience gained in collaboration with the World Bank.
