The Secretary of State in the Ministry of Energy, Cristian Bușoi, stated that Romania is preparing for energy consumption peaks of 7,000 megawatts in the coming days.
Bușoi assured that the country has all production capacities mobilized, especially regarding gas energy production. He emphasized that Romania has sufficient resources to purchase the necessary energy, thus eliminating any concerns regarding limitations imposed on large industrial consumers.
“Regarding the emergency plan and cross-border emergency assistance, at this moment we have no reason to request it, because it is a functional market. There are quantities of electricity available compared to the beginning of the crisis, let's say so, compared to the moment when we are still operating with one reactor. Things have improved in the regional market because Hungary is importing less. There were times when Hungary imported 4,000 megawatts at a consumption of 7,000. An evening peak consumption. Now they have reduced it because they are slowly starting to reopen nuclear capacities. Therefore, as I said, there are availabilities and from this point of view the situation is under control. There is currently no reason to discuss even consumption limitations for large industrial consumers,” said Cristian Bușoi.
This statement comes in the context of increasing energy demand, and the official reaffirmed the Ministry's commitment to ensuring a stable and efficient energy system for all consumers.
