A recent study shows that Romanians are paying exorbitant prices for bottled water, spending between 300 and 500 lei a month, despite the abundance of fresh water. The price for two liters of water varies between 3.5 and 4.7 lei, compared with 1.5-2.5 lei in Italy and Greece. In 2024, Romanians are expected to consume an estimated 2.4 million liters of bottled water, and interest in cheaper alternatives, such as tap water filtration, is growing, reflecting a trend towards saving money in the face of inflation.
