Romania could impose sanctions on the company Lukoil, with discussions taking place within the European Council in Brussels. President Nicușor Dan mentioned that during the discussions about the European Union's sanctions packages 19 and 20, Lukoil was discussed, emphasizing that Romania has acted in solidarity with the other countries in the Union. He stated that Romania will continue to join these sanctions packages in the future.

Nicușor Dan explained that the imposition of sanctions must be done carefully, considering the collateral effects on the domestic industry. Additionally, oil prices have risen by over 1 dollar per barrel as a result of the sanctions imposed by the US on the Russian companies Rosneft and Lukoil, in the context of the war in Ukraine.
