The German company Rheinmetall has obtained 6 out of the 15 contracts carried out by Romania under the European SAFE program, strengthening its position as the main supplier in military procurement projects.

The distribution of contracts has generated reactions from other players in the European defense industry. The Italian manufacturer Beretta has requested Romanian authorities to ensure a transparent and competitive selection procedure.

"We promised the employees at the Mangalia Shipyard that we will save it. From today in Parliament, it is known that the obligation to build the four ships is linked to saving the shipyard. Those from Rheinmetall will come to take over the shipyard's activity, respecting a partnership between the Romanian state and the private company. It is mandatory for the ships to be made there; otherwise, the penalties are greater than the value of the contract," said Miruță.
