Romania will implement a unique QR code for marketed products, which will function as a digital passport, providing detailed information about each product, from manufacturing to recycling. This measure, initiated through an emergency ordinance by the Ministry of Economy, aligns with the European Commission's plan for 2025-2030.
The digital passport will include details such as carbon footprint, the possibility of component replacement, and links to disassembly manuals. Manufacturers will be required to adopt sustainable design, and products with a high ecological impact will be gradually phased out of the market. Competent authorities, such as ANPC and the Ministry of Environment, will verify product compliance. Implementation will be phased, prioritizing batteries, textiles, and electronics, while food and medicines will be temporarily excluded.
