According to the PwC Workforce Hopes and Fears Survey 2025, Romania ranks 41st out of 48 countries in the use of artificial intelligence (AI), with only 44% of employees having used AI in the past year, below the global average of 57%. The highest usage rates are found in India and Vietnam (84%), while Japan and Hungary are below 40%. Ruxandra Târlescu from PwC Romania mentions that employees' reluctance towards AI is due to fragmented implementation and lack of proper training.

AI usage varies depending on roles and generations, with 64% of senior executives and 57% of Generation Z using AI, compared to only 35% of non-managers. Additionally, daily use of AI is low, with only 6% of employees using generative AI tools. Despite this, 75% of AI users notice improvements in work quality, and 58% expect productivity increases in the next three years.

Romanian employees are optimistic about their professional future, with 60% having a positive outlook, and 72% believing they will have control over how technology affects their work. However, 41% of managers believe that AI will reduce the number of entry-level jobs. Furthermore, only 35% of employees received a salary increase in the past year, and 39% can cover monthly expenses without issues.
