AI agents can boost companies’ productivity and accelerate business decisions, but their use requires clear rules on data security, accountability, and maintaining human judgment. The conclusions were presented at Data Talks 2026, an event held on October 8 in Bucharest.

The conference’s fifth edition brought together 180 business leaders and specialists from more than 60 companies under the theme “The Agentic Shift.” Participants discussed automating repetitive tasks, supporting analytics and business intelligence teams, and using data to make faster, better-informed decisions.

A survey conducted among participants shows that the main perceived advantage of AI agents is improving team efficiency. The most significant concerns are preserving professional judgment, protecting information, and establishing accountability for the decisions made by autonomous systems. The risk of job losses ranked last.

The discussions took place as only 5.2% of companies in Romania were using artificial intelligence at the end of 2025, compared with the European average of 20%, according to Eurostat. Founded in 2022, Data Talks is a regional community dedicated to data analytics professionals.
