Bogdan Ivan, the Minister of Energy, stated that Romania has sufficient reserves of natural gas to cope with low temperatures, with values estimated to be below -19 degrees until January 14. He emphasized that the country no longer imports gas from Russia and that gas exports are profitable. Romania is the largest gas producer in the European Union, with storage filled to 68%. Ivan mentioned that gas storage began in the summer of last year to ensure domestic consumption. He also discussed the liberalization of the gas market and the removal of the pricing cap, assuring that prices will not rise sharply after April 1.
