Romania has surpassed the milestone of 1,400 kilometers of highways and express roads, currently reaching 1,416.3 km, of which 146.5 km were opened in 2025. The year 2024 was the most prolific, with 195 km inaugurated, and estimates for 2026 suggest a continuation of this trend. In 2025, several sections were inaugurated, including A0 Nord and A3, and for 2026, the completion of 233.8 km of new highways is expected. The Association Construim Romania estimates that by 2027, between 100 and 150 km of highways will be opened, including the missing section of A1. Currently, approximately 750 km of highways are under construction, with 400 km scheduled for completion by the end of 2027.
