The Romanian pilot who shot down a drone over Estonia was awarded the Emblem of Peace Envoy, class I, by the Minister of Defense, Radu Miruță, following a mission with a high degree of risk. This mission included the downing of a drone with an F-16 aircraft, a remarkable event, being a first for the Romanian Air Forces.
The decoration ceremony took place in the context in which Romania deployed 100 soldiers and 6 F-16 aircraft from the 'Carpathian Vipers' detachment for air policing missions. The Romanian soldiers will continue to protect the Baltic airspace until July, thus contributing to regional security.
