The gendarmerie van that transported Alexandru Bălan, the Moldovan spy accused of treason, was involved in a traffic accident, but no one was seriously injured.

The incident took place in the locality of Coșava, Timiș County, when the gendarmes' vehicle was hit by a truck, suffering significant damage. The gendarmes were returning from Bucharest, where they had brought Alexandru Bălan, accused of disclosing state secrets to KGB officers from Belarus. Bălan, a former deputy of the Information and Security Service of the Republic of Moldova, was detained by DIICOT for treason.
