A RO-ALERT message was transmitted in Curtea de Argeș, warning about the presence of the Clostridium perfringens bacteria in drinking water. Authorities prohibit the use of water for human and animal consumption, as well as for personal hygiene, recommending consumption only from verified sources or bottled water.
The Argeș Public Health Directorate has confirmed that the water remains unfit for consumption, having negative results from tests conducted on February 6. The Municipal Hospital is supplied with water from a tanker, as the supply from the network has been suspended. The increase in water turbidity was caused by controlled discharges from the Vidraru Dam, which led to the clogging of the treatment station filters. Although disinfections and filter cleanings have been carried out, the water is not recommended for consumption or cooking, but only for household purposes.
The situation affects approximately 40,000 residents in the area.
