Satu Mare has become a central point in military support for Ukraine, after Rheinmetall inaugurated the "Service Hub Satu Mare" repair center at the beginning of the year. This strategic decision allows the maintenance of Marder armored vehicles to be moved closer to the Ukrainian border, reducing repair time and improving the availability of vehicles on the front.

The center uses a modular concept, allowing for quick and efficient repairs of armored vehicles, including the Marder 1A3.

Romania, a logistical pillar on NATO's eastern flank Rheinmetall has already delivered over 250 armored vehicles to Ukraine, and the center in Satu Mare will also manage other military equipment, thus strengthening Romania's position as a logistical pillar on NATO's eastern flank. Additionally, the European Union is investing billions of euros in revitalizing the ammunition industry in Romania and Bulgaria, with Rheinmetall leading these initiatives, including a 550 million euro project for a bullet powder factory in Romania. These developments underscore Romania and its allies' commitment to supporting Ukraine and strengthening regional security.
