The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) informs that on Sunday, March 8, a charter flight for the repatriation of 183 Romanian citizens who were in Qatar will land in Bucharest. They were transferred by road from Doha to Riyadh, with the help of the MFA Crisis Cell and the Romanian Embassy in Doha. At the border with Saudi Arabia, the team from the Romanian Embassy in Riyadh took over the convoy to facilitate border crossing and the expedited obtaining of visas, where necessary. The ground transfer was free, and the charter flight was organized to provide affordable prices for Romanian citizens. Additionally, the MFA is collaborating with other embassies in the region to ensure information and repatriation solutions. So far, approximately 1,500 Romanians have left the region through various repatriation flights, and the MFA is planning an increased number of commercial and evacuation flights for vulnerable cases.
