On Monday, after the Government meeting, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan asked both public authorities and the population to reduce electricity consumption between 7 PM and 11 PM, when the domestic production deficit must be covered by imports.


Official data transmitted by the national system and energy transport operator show a reduction in total consumption at the national level, during the time interval 8 PM – 10 PM, by up to approximately 300 MW, since August 1, when Romania has been in a state of energy alert.

The actual consumption was lower than the forecasted one by Transelectrica on each day since the beginning of the month, except for August 5, when temperatures were the highest during this period.
