The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) has issued a red code for heatwave and significant thermal discomfort, valid for the counties of Satu Mare, Bihor, and Arad, for the next 24 hours. Meteorologists forecast extreme temperatures, with highs of 37-40 degrees Celsius, close to historical records.
During the same period, an orange code is in effect for the counties of Timiș, Hunedoara, Alba, Mureș, Cluj, Sălaj, Bistrița-Năsăud, and Maramureș, where temperatures will range between 35 and 38 degrees. Additionally, a yellow code is active in the west and south of Oltenia, the south of Banat, Transylvania, and the northern half of Moldavia, with highs of 33-37 degrees.
ANM warns of significant thermal discomfort, with risks for the population, especially for vulnerable individuals. Nights will be tropical, with minimums between 19 and 25 degrees Celsius, thus exacerbating the effects of the heatwave.
