The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) warns Romanian citizens in Italy or those intending to travel there that the National Department of Civil Protection in Italy has issued a red alert for the Sicily region, valid from January 20-21.
Italian authorities forecast extreme weather phenomena, including heavy precipitation, storms, and wind gusts of up to 120 km/h, which may lead to flooding and landslides. The MAE recommends following the instructions of local authorities, avoiding travel in affected areas, and consulting official sources for updated information.
Romanian citizens can request consular assistance at the Romanian General Consulate in Rome and at the consulates in major Italian cities, having specific contact numbers available. Additionally, the MAE suggests consulting the official pages of Romanian diplomatic missions in Italy for further information.
