The town of Râșnov has become a pioneer in Romania by using an electric fence over a distance of approximately six kilometers, aimed at protecting the community from wild bears. The barriers are placed along routes frequented by bears and have proven effective, with locals reporting a decrease in bear sightings. The fence works by applying an electric shock that discourages animals from approaching. Additionally, special gates have been installed for tourists, ensuring access to nature without compromising safety.
