Raluca Turcan requests the ban of TikTok in Romania after the attack on the ambulance in Cluj

Deputy Raluca Turcan, vice president of PNL, requested on Monday the initiation of a discussion regarding the possibility of banning the TikTok platform in Romania, following a violent incident in Cluj, where a medical crew was attacked due to the viral spread of false information.

Turcan accused TikTok of an "obvious failure" in limiting artificial content, emphasizing that the manipulation of information can have serious consequences for public safety. She highlighted the vulnerability of society to disinformation and stressed that the discussion should not be limited to freedom of expression, but should be approached from the perspective of national security.

Turcan also criticized the lack of a report from President Nicușor Dan regarding electoral manipulation on social platforms, mentioning the negative effects, such as violence and dangerous behaviors, generated by false information.
