Two men, including a Romanian citizen, are being investigated for acts of sabotage against ships in the port of Hamburg, following an investigation coordinated by the German authorities. DIICOT prosecutors conducted a house search on the territory of Romania to collect evidence, based on a European Investigation Order issued by Germany.

The suspects are accused of causing major mechanical damage between January and August 2025 by throwing abrasive gravel into the ships' engines, perforating water pipes, and disabling safety systems. Following recent searches, evidence was discovered that will be sent to the German authorities for further investigation. The two defendants have already been deprived of their liberty: the Romanian citizen was detained in Germany, while the second suspect was captured on the territory of Greece.
