Radu Oprea, the Secretary General of the Government, stated that he sent back a reorganization project that proposed budget cuts at the Victoria Palace, invoking a 'legal procedure' that blocked its implementation. Oprea emphasized that he does not believe that cuts are the optimal solution, stating that people deserve respect in the workplace.
The Prime Minister's Chancellery communicated that the reorganization, announced in July 2025, was not completed due to the lack of Oprea's signature. The project proposed reducing the number of positions from 176 to 105, saving approximately 850,000 lei monthly. Oprea explained that he returned the ordinance with comments and criticized the delegation of additional responsibilities without considering reforms. In a controversial statement, he compared staff cuts to Auschwitz, emphasizing the importance of respect and dignity for employees. He stated that he cannot tolerate a slave mentality and highlighted the need for balance in democracy.
