Radu Oprea, former Secretary General of the Government and PSD member, highlighted the benefits of listing on the stock exchange for companies, such as transparency and more efficient governance. However, he pointed out the "elephant in the room" – the ABB (accelerated book building) method proposed by Deputy Prime Minister Oana Gheorghiu for listing.
Oprea explained that this method involves selling shares at a significantly reduced price, which can generate negative signals in the market. He listed the disadvantages of this procedure, including increased volatility, reduced transparency, and risks of conflict of interest, emphasizing that the method could favor certain investors to the detriment of minority shareholders. Oprea concluded that the PSD does not support such an approach, considering that it could lead to the sale of shares of profitable state companies at low prices. His criticism came after Oana Gheorghiu presented a document regarding the approval of the listing of certain state companies by Sorin Grindeanu, the PSD leader.
