Radu Miruță, the Minister of Defense, responded to critics who accuse the state of purchasing 'junk' for the Army, stating that Romania is implementing for the first time 21 new projects for equipping the Army with cutting-edge technology, as part of the SAFE program.
He emphasized that, after a period of stagnation, investments amount to 9.53 billion euros, aiming to produce a significant part of the equipment in Romania, through the modernization of the national defense industry. Miruță highlighted the importance of these projects for job creation and enhancing national security, stressing that Romania must be an active player in global changes. He detailed that out of the 21 projects, 10 are joint acquisitions with other states, while 11 are individual acquisitions, including Mistral missiles and H225 helicopters.
