The interim Minister of Defense, Radu Miruță, clarified on Facebook that the marine drone shot down by a Romanian F-16 in the Neptun Deep platform area was loaded with explosives.
At 12:51, he communicated that the drone was destroyed safely, but at 13:13 he deleted the statement regarding the explosives.
The official statement from the Ministry of National Defense (MApN) did not mention this detail, stating only that the drone was engaged and destroyed by the F-16 aircraft.
The initial information was revised by the minister's communication team, which explained that the situation analysis was ongoing.
After about two and a half hours, Radu Miruță returned with a new message on Facebook, confirming again that the drone had explosives.
"From the ground analysis of the data downloaded from the tracking system of the F-16 aircraft involved in the destruction of the drone, overlaid with those from the ship that arrived at the scene, it results that there was only one drone, the one hit by the cannon from the aircraft. Following the bursts fired from the plane, the drone was hit, but the destruction was not complete. The EOD soldiers of the ship that arrived there completely destroyed the drone. It had explosives," Radu Miruță stated on Facebook.
At the same time, the Minister of Defense announced, from Buzău, that a second drone was identified, but according to his new clarifications, it seems to refute the existence of another drone besides the one destroyed.
This situation generated confusion and questions regarding the management of communication in the case of the incident.
