Radu Marinescu, the Minister of Justice, announced efforts to obtain funding for electronic monitoring bracelets for inmates who participate in work or who benefit from leaves. During the presentation of the activity report of the National Administration of Penitentiaries (ANP) for 2025, he emphasized that digitalization is an essential priority for modernizing the penitentiary system. Marinescu highlighted the crucial role of the ANP in ensuring public order and national security, reaffirming the Ministry of Justice's commitment to respecting the fundamental rights of inmates.

He emphasized the importance of detention conditions, access to medical services and education, as well as social reintegration programs, mentioning that reducing recidivism is a strategic objective. The minister also announced the continuation of the modernization of penitentiary infrastructure to improve accommodation and working conditions for staff in the system.
