Russian President Vladimir Putin had a phone conversation with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, in which he reaffirmed Moscow's support for the government in Caracas, in the face of increasing external pressures, especially from the United States. The Kremlin reported that the leaders discussed the implementation of a strategic partnership and joint projects in the economic and energy sectors. Maduro is facing pressure from American President Donald Trump, who suggested the possibility of military intervention in Venezuela and intensified economic efforts to remove the Venezuelan leader. Trump accused the Maduro regime of electoral fraud and announced the seizure of an oil tanker near the coast of Venezuela, in the context of the embargo imposed on the country's crude oil. Most countries in Latin America, Europe, and the U.S. do not recognize the results of the 2024 elections, which allowed Maduro to obtain a new mandate.
