PSD women MPs have launched a legislative initiative to criminalize femicide in the Penal Code as part of efforts to combat violence against women

PSD deputies and senators propose to introduce femicide as a separate offense in the Penal Code to improve legislation on violence against women. Alarming statistics show that in Romania, one person becomes a victim of violence every 12 minutes, the majority of victims are women. The initiative will include consultations with officials from various ministries and experts in the field, inspired by reforms in other European countries that have already adopted this crime.
