Virgil Valentin Hanțiu, a county councillor elected on the PSD lists in Alba, has been sentenced to 1 year and 10 months suspended imprisonment for illegally obtaining European funds. The plea bargain agreement was concluded with DNA, where he admitted that he falsified documents to access 950,000 lei intended for a dairy factory. The court also banned him from holding public office. Hanțiu resigned from the county council after the investigation was launched.
