Mayors Robert Negoiță, Rareș Hopincă and Daniel Băluță announced the launch of the 'I Love Velo' project, which will develop a network of 102.39 km of bike lanes and pedestrian paths in sectors 2, 3, 4 and the Cernica area. The project aims to connect major neighborhoods such as Titan, Dristor, Vitan and Obor, providing an ecological alternative to car transport. The funding comes from the Bucharest-Ilfov Regional Program 2021-2027, and the total value of the project is 202,362,934.99 lei. The works, which will last approximately 24 months, include the modernization of intersections, LED lighting, photoluminescent markings, and the planting of over 500 trees for shade. The goal of the initiative is to reduce traffic and improve air quality. The documentation is complete and the project is eligible for implementation.
