On Tuesday, October 27, the Bucharest General Council approved a collaboration protocol between Bucharest City Hall, the Bucharest-Ilfov Intercommunity Development Association for Public Transport (TPBI), and the HaicuBicla Association. The partnership aims to promote sustainable urban mobility and accelerate the implementation of the Bucharest Cycling Master Plan.
The project documentation provides for supporting the development of cycling infrastructure and encouraging the use of alternative means of transport. The measures are aligned with the objectives of the Bucharest-Ilfov Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan 2016–2030 and the Bucharest Cycling Master Plan.
The “InfraVelo Bucharest” project, proposed by the HaicuBicla Association, includes collecting and analyzing data on urban mobility, promoting sustainable transport, and formulating recommendations for public policies in the field.
The association said the approval represents a step toward implementing measures aimed at reducing the number of accidents and improving infrastructure for cyclists, pedestrians, children, families with strollers, people with disabilities, and drivers. Implementing the strategies will require investment, cooperation with civil society, and ongoing consultation with users of the transport infrastructure.
