Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan accuses speculative investors, nicknamed smart guys, of blocking the national energy system and keeping electricity prices high. The head of the Government explained that connection documentation has been released for an unrealistic capacity of 77,000 MW, while the current production is approximately 9,000 MW, thus artificially occupying all available land for new investments.

Bolojan emphasized the need to amend regulations by regulatory authorities to eliminate these bureaucratic barriers and allow serious investors to enter the market. According to the Prime Minister, unlocking the system and increasing storage capacities by 1,000 - 2,000 MW could generate a decrease in energy prices by 10 - 20% in the coming years.
