The Mures County Committee for Emergency Situations has reported an extremely high level of chlorine in the Târnavei Mici water, reaching 5,053 mg/l, well above the maximum limit of 250 mg/l for drinking water. The water treatment plant in Târnăveni will remain closed and the population is advised to use water supplies rationally. Due to the increased salinity, dead fish will start to surface over a 10km distance, and authorities warn not to consume them. Recent interventions at the Praid saltworks are suspected as the cause of the pollution.
