Alina Gorghiu, the president of PNL Argeș, stated that the local administration in Curtea de Argeș has not made the necessary investments in the treatment station at Cerbureni and in the water network, leaving the infrastructure in a serious state for approximately two decades.
A technical report conducted by Veolia confirms its degradation, and nearly 50,000 residents of Argeș are affected, having limited access to drinking water. Although the City Hall had a budget surplus of over 30 million lei at the end of 2025, the mayor did not allocate funds for the modernization of the treatment station. Now, the City Hall is requesting 9.7 million lei from the Government for repairs. Gorghiu considers this situation unacceptable and proposes the full allocation of the surplus for urgent investments and the suspension of water billing until its potability is confirmed. She emphasizes that access to drinking water is a fundamental right.
