The joint defense committees approved the 'Main Battle Tank' procurement program and the introduction of the concept of 'volunteer soldier/rank in term'.

The joint committees for Defense, public order, and national security of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate unanimously approved the initiation of procedures for the 'Main Battle Tank' procurement program, which includes Stage I (Phase 2) with a value of 458.20 million USD and Stage II, estimated at 6,488.34 million Euros. This program aims to improve the operational capabilities of the Romanian army, essential for national defense and compliance with international commitments.

Additionally, the Chamber of Deputies adopted an admission report for amending Law no. 446/2006, which introduces the concept of 'volunteer soldier/rank in term'. This allows citizens to perform active military service voluntarily, benefiting from accommodation, equipment, food, and a monthly salary. Upon completion of training, participants receive an allowance equivalent to three average gross salary earnings. This initiative is considered essential for diversifying the training of the reserve and adapting to current security needs.
