The Sector 4 City Hall has announced the start of works to transform the median area of Calea Văcărești into a green corridor, starting from the night of June 8.

Mayor Daniel Băluță stated that the works will take place between 11:00 PM and 5:00 AM, to minimize the impact on traffic. The project includes the planting of over 300 trees, which will help reduce pollution and improve air quality by capturing harmful particles generated by vehicle emissions.

The trees will provide shade on hot days, reducing the overheating of the asphalt and the noise from trams. The works will not affect the size of the roadway, maintaining three lanes for each direction of traffic. In the end, public transport will operate more efficiently, thanks to the reconfiguration of the street layout.

The mayor apologized to residents for the temporary discomfort caused by the works.
