The Oltenia Energy Complex is facing a difficult situation, with over 300 employees expected to be laid off starting May 1, according to Radio Craiova. This measure comes after, on April 1, approximately 1,400 employees with fixed-term contracts were left without jobs, without receiving compensation.

The company's administration has included on the agenda of the shareholders' meeting on May 11 a point regarding the allocation of funds for severance payments for laid-off employees. In Gorj County, about 1,050 of the 1,400 laid-off employees are expected to register with AJOFM for unemployment benefits.

The Gorj County Employment Agency is preparing a job fair to facilitate the rapid employment of affected individuals. The Oltenia Energy Complex is in a critical period, with estimated losses of 1 billion lei for 2025 and high costs for CO₂ emission certificates.
