The World Organization for Animal Health has announced that serotype 3 of bluetongue disease has been detected in 10 cattle in Gorj County. This disease, which affects ruminants, has recently been reported in other European countries, such as Hungary and Bulgaria. Bluetongue disease is serious and can be fatal for sheep, cattle, and goats. Romanian authorities have implemented measures to restrict the movement of animals to prevent the spread of the virus.
