The Transport Minister’s order on the acceptance regime for freight trains at stations serving the Port of Constanța is expected to be amended to streamline Romanian grain exports. The announcement was made Monday by Agriculture Minister Tanczos Barna, following a meeting with Transport Minister Radu Miruță, representatives of railway companies, the port administration and farmers’ associations in the crop sector.
The measure aims to reduce administrative bottlenecks and congestion points in logistics flows affecting the transport of agri-food goods to the port. The main change concerns shortening the period for issuing the port permits required to unload freight trains.
The amendment will be accompanied by better coordination among the rail and road operators transporting grain to the Port of Constanța. An more efficient mechanism for sanctioning those who fail to comply with the established rules is also planned.
According to the Transport Minister, the regulatory changes will be implemented swiftly in the immediate period ahead. Discussions between authorities, operators and producers will continue in order to identify logistical solutions that will enable Romanian farmers to export their goods more quickly and efficiently.
