Bucharest is under a red code warning for storms on Sunday afternoon until 17:30, with a RO-Alert message issued. This is the second RO-Alert message on Sunday afternoon, after an orange code was issued around 16:00.

Update 16:33: Authorities issued a RO-Alert red code message on Sunday for extreme weather phenomena, valid from 16:32 to 17:30. Gusts of up to 90 km/h, torrential downpours, frequent lightning strikes, and hailstones measuring between 1 and 3 centimeters are expected. Bucharest residents are advised to avoid traveling and to seek shelter in safe places until the storm subsides.

Residents of Bucharest initially received a RO-Alert orange code message on Sunday around 16:00, warning them of severe weather phenomena. According to the notification, from 16:13 to 17:00, torrential downpours with accumulations of 25-40 l/m², frequent lightning strikes, wind intensifications of 70-80 km/h, and hailstones with a diameter of 2-3 centimeters are forecasted. Authorities recommend that people avoid traveling and seek shelter until the dangerous phenomena cease.
