Six people have been detained and eight luxury cars have been seized following 16 searches carried out by police in Dâmbovița, as part of Operation Jupiter, in a case concerning a group suspected of bringing into Romania cars fraudulently obtained from several European countries.

On June 10, under the coordination of the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Răcari Court, Operation Jupiter took place, which involved searches in Dâmbovița, Ilfov, Buzău, Prahova, and Bucharest. The police executed 16 search warrants and nine summonses, targeting individuals suspected of crimes such as forgery in official documents, embezzlement, and destruction of evidence.

Investigators discovered that between 2024-2026, the suspects allegedly obtained cars from Spain, Germany, Italy, and France through rental or leasing, without returning them. These vehicles were transported to Germany, where temporary registration numbers were obtained with falsified documents, then brought into Romania, where they were modified and sold.

Following the searches, eight luxury cars, large sums of money, and electronic equipment were confiscated. Six people were detained for 24 hours and are to be presented to the judges. Authorities emphasize the presumption of innocence for those investigated.
